The Schaeffer family had thirty years experience pleasing diners in New Orleans before
opening the popular Schaeffer's Restaurant on Military Road location in Slidell in 1982.
Two years ago, the family-owned restaurant went through a major
renovation, adding more seating, more parking spaces, smoking and non smoking sections, and a larger
bar for their growing clientele. The result? Schaeffer's is more popular than
ever! The atmosphere is set with the beautiful murals that cover the walls of the entrance and
bar area. The architecture, lighting and overall aesthetic theme is unmistakably that of the
sea!
Although the atmosphere is beautiful, make no mistake; the food
is the star at Schaeffer's. Delicious New Orleans favorites are served up by a friendly staff
led by owner/manager Todd Schaeffer. Fresh local seafood, steaks, and tempting daily specials
are all homemade, prepared fresh in the store. The soups are extremely popular; be sure to try
a bowl! Dieters can find figure friendly grilled and boiled fresh seafood options and steaks
as well. Everything is tasty; you might even cheat on that diet a little once you've perused
the menu!
Schaeffer's is active in local community events such as the Fais Do-do and
Gourmet Gala, and the restaurant has received numerous accolades in magazine and newspaper
